The effective beam of the Jonta is over 50 meters, with a signal visibility of 3 kilometers. The user may select either a "energy savng" or "full power" setting, depending on whether maximum shine time or maximum brightness is desired. In energy-saving mode the Jonta will run for 24 hours, and in the full power mode it will run for 2.5 hours. A third choice is a flashing beam that is suitable for emergency signaling.

The ergonomically designed handle may be turned in either direction, and the faster it's turned the more energy that's generated. A crank level LED indicates the optimum winding speed. Just 30 seconds of winding will deliver 10 minutes of operation. A wrist strap is included.
