Using rechargeable batteries reduces household waste. Fifteen billion ordinary batteries are thrown away every year, ending up in landfill sites. Rechargeable batteries can be reused many times which helps reduce the impact batteries have on the environment. To maximize battery recharging use and recharge batteries in "sets", rather than recharging batteries discharged to different levels simultaneously.
