If you have a Lights of America 30 watt fixture for which the ballast has failed, this conversion kit will allow you to replace the ballast/lamp unit without having to replace the entire fixture.
To install, turn off the power to the fixture (turn off the switch and the circuit breaker). Loosen the screws inside your existing fixture that hold the ballast/lamp holder in place. Loosen and remove the wire nuts, and remove the existing ballast/lamp holder. Reattach the wires (black to black and white to white) to the conversion kit using your existing wire nuts, line up the mounting holes of the conversion kit with the securing screws inside the fixture, and tighten.
While these steps are relatively simple for a skilled do-it-yourselfer, and will permit continued use of a fixture for which the original ballast has failed, it would be prudent for anyone uncomfortable working with electricity to hire an electrician for this type of project. Note that this kit is not suitable for use in fixtures that use lamps other than the LOA 30 watt circular lamp.
