Designed specifically for through-wall air conditioners, this A-C DraftShields Cover will eliminate uncontrolled air infiltration through through-wall air conditioners.
During the heating season, many people try various strategies to reduce drafts through their through–wall air-conditioning units. People try all kinds of solutions from climbing up on ladders to install an outside cover over the unit, to unsightly interior blankets, to tape and plastic covers. None of these solutions reduce 100% of the icy draft since they do not seal around the air-conditioning Casing. The A-C through-wall cover provides a 100% seal of the entire air-conditioning unit inclusive of the casing and wall opening. It installs in minutes (4 miniature screw eyes are placed ½” from the middle of each of the 4 sides of your molding or sheet rock if you do not have molding. It also has a custom foam gasket around the edge of the cover that effectively blocks drafts.
The cover is made from recycled plastic. To install, attach the hook to each of the 4 screw eyes that you installed either in your molding or in the sheet rock around the air conditioning unit and thread the lanyard through the small hole in the Draftshield cover. Tighten the lanyards by pushing the ball lock towards the wall, and the cover will remain securely in place and lock out the icy drafts. To remove, loosen the lanyard and remove the hook from the each of the 4 screw eyes and the cover can be re-used every heating season. The screw eyes are very small and non noticeable but if you prefer you can remove them and re-install them each heating season.
This size is suitable for through-wall air conditioners up to 19" x 27" with no molding around the unit. If the molding is 2-1/4" (as measured from the outer edge of the molding), this size is suitable for air conditioners from 21" x 28-3/4" to 23-1/2" x 31-1/2". If the molding is 2-1/2", this size is suitable for air conditioners from 21-1/4" x 30-1/2" to 24" x 32".
