LED lighting is more than just another type of artificial light. It offers new capabilities in lighting, embodied in this advanced desk lamp, that is unique in a number of respects.
First, the light source are energy efficient light emitting diodes (LEDs), consuming a total of just 17 watts of electricity, with an expected rated life of 50,000 hours (to give you a sense of how long this is, if used 5 hours a day, every day, this would provide 27 years of use). Second, with this fixture you can vary the brightness of the LEDs through a control on the base, with a range from 650 to 950 lux. (While the light output of many bulbs and fixtures is measured in lumens, MaxLite presents the light output of this fixture using the unit of measure "lux", which are lumens per square meter. 400 to 500 lux would be equal to a well-lit office environment.) Finally, with this fixture the color temperature of the LEDs can also be changed, ranging from a warm and romantic color temperature of 2,500 degrees Kelvin to a "daylight-like" white color temperature of 6,000 degrees Kelvin.
