By pressing the large tactile buttons the thermostat may be programmed to lower the temperature at specific times of day, such as evening, and raise the temperature the following morning. Different time and temperature profiles can be set for every day of the week.
The more interesting aspect of this thermostat, however, is it's integrated speech recognition technology, allowing the temperature program to readily be overridden with voice commands and that every button talks. When a button is pressed, a clear voice will state what that button signifies. It will announce the time, room temperature and temperature setting. Programming buttons including “Set Day,” “Set Time,” “Raise” and “Lower” making the Kelvin Talking Thermostat simple to operate. An LED display shows the time, temperature, day of the week, and visually confirms the voice-activated commands.
The temperature may be displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Four AA batteries (not included) are required. When the batteries run low the thermostat will beep every 10 minutes. Anyone who has difficulty seeing a conventional thermostat will appreciate the features in this one.
