Refrigerators are one of the largest energy users in the home. The temperature of the refrigerator compartment should be between 36 degrees Fahrenheit and 38 degrees F. The freezer should be between 0 degrees Fahrenheit and 5 degrees F. If the temperature is set as little as 10 degrees lower than these temperatures energy use can increase by as much as 25 percent.
