Install this solar charge controller this between your photovoltaic panel and the battery to prevent the overcharging of 12 volt batteries when charging from panels that provide more than 10 watts of power. This compact unit can handle up to 100 watts of electricity and 7 amps of array input, giving you maintenance free protection of both your solar panels and your batteries. You can leave the battery connected to solar panel so the battery is maintained in a fully charged state. The SolarController has a charge light to show when the battery is charging, and a full battery indicator to show when charging is complete.
Install the charge controller within 5 feet of the battery, in a dry, well ventilated location. When the battery reaches 14.2 volts the solar charge controller will cut out, preventing overcharging of the battery (a green light on the controller will illuminate, indicating the battery is at full charge). When the battery drops below 13 volts, the solar charge controller will cut in and charging resumes (a yellow light on the charger turns on during charging).
