Brunton's drive to pioneer a line of rugged power sources led to the introduction of the first flexible solar panel, the SolarRoll. Since then, the evolution of this concept has flourished. The waterproof SolarRoll has given sea kayakers the power to photograph their voyages from the far reaches of the planet. The SolarRoll is the ultimate means of powering electronic equipment in the field. Not only portable, but packable. When you need it, simply unroll the waterproof, flexible, durable panel and drape it across the roof of a tent, the hood of a vehicle, or virtually any other surface. The SolarRoll immediately begins harvesting solar energy and converting it to electrical power for your portable electronics. Charge things like satellite phones, laptops, digital cameras, cell phones, PDAs, and much more from wherever you are.
The solar panel technology used for this flexible panel is amorphous silicon, which performs especially well in indirect light, including under light cloud cover. The backing is Tefzel® fluorpolymer, which makes this an extremely durable panel. It rolls and stores in a convenient storage tube. Up to three 14 watt SolarRolls may be connected to each other for increased power. It has reverse current protection. It will produce power when any of the segments are exposed to light, which means you can just partially unroll it and still obtain electricity. Each segment produces about 50 mA (the voltage always remains constant).
