Efficient Bathroom and Kitchen Faucet Aerators
For kitchen faucet aerators look for a flow rate of 1.0 to 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm). The savings can be enhanced if the aerator includes an off-value (allowing for the temporary interruption of the flow). By allowing you to direct the water exactly where it's needed, a swivel aerator with an on-off value can reduce water waste even further.
Because bathroom faucets are often just used for washing hands, brushing teeth, and shaving, even less water is needed here. When selecting a faucet aerator for your bathroom look for a flow rate of 0.5 to 1.0 gpm.

* The "estimated savings" values below are based on 1 hour per day use compared to using a 2.5 gpm aerator. Energy savings will also be realized if hot water is being used.
