Electric is pleased to be able to help our residential customers
use energy more efficiently. Using more efficient products
in our daily lives is one way each of us can make a difference,
and this online store makes it easy.
Take Action...
Replacing
a 100 watt incandescent light bulb with a 25
watt compact fluorescent bulb will save 135 kWh of electricity
annually, and can reduce associated carbon dioxide emission
by 193 pounds (based on 5 hours per day use and 1.43 lbs CO2/kWh).
Commonly
available 2.5 gpm "water-saving" showerheads aren't
really water-saving, since this flow-rate is probably what
you already have. Putting in a 1.75
gpm showerhead, however, will reduce your water use by
2,737 gallons a year (assuming a 10 minute daily shower).
Putting
outdoor lights on a wall switch timer is a great way to save
energy - but if you don't adjust the timer seasonally it will
turn on too early in the summer or too late in the winter.
A solar timetable switch
will automatically adjust based on your longitude and latitude,
helping insure that lights are only on when needed.
