ENERGY STAR® is a joint U.S. Department of Energy-U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program, formed in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership that seeks to reduce air pollution through increased energy efficiency.

With the online ENERGY STAR at Home tool, you can learn about easy steps to be taken to reduce energy usage, that is particularly important since the greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy use at your home can be twice the associated emissions from your car.

There is lots to be done, ranging from replacing appliances with ENERGY STAR qualified models, unplugging cell phone chargers when not needed, weatherizing doors and windows, replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, using a programmable thermostat, using ceiling fans in rooms with high ceilings, and more.
