The Filtrete™ Dust & Pollen Filter outperforms ordinary pleated, washable/reusable and fiberglass filters. It is up to 20 times more efficient than ordinary fiberglass filters and it delivers up to 3 months of filtering performance. This furnace/AC filter will captures large, airborne allergens like mold spores and large dust particles. The Filtrete filtering material will not support the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew or fungi in normal use.

* While typical filter life is 3 months, filter life is actually determined by the user's living conditions, and will vary by household. For instance, using candles or a wood-burning stove will quickly decrease the life expectancy of a filter. To determine when a filter needs to be changed, periodically remove it from the HVAC system and hold it up to the light. When is is no longer transluscent, it needs to be replaced. Also if you have a high velocity furnace with a high fan speed, you should plan to to change the filters more frequently, perhaps as often as every 1 to 2 months.
