In a tight house it is desirable to run some type of mechanical ventilation to help maintain good indoor air quality, but sometimes exhaust fans are installed without consideration of where the fresh makeup air will be drawn from. Panasonic's Passive Inlet Vent serves this purpose, providing a way for fresh makeup air to enter the house, helping to balance indoor/outdoor air pressure. The Passive Inlet offers three settings; closed, 12 cfm (cubic feet per minute), and 18 cfm. It has a washable air filter, bug screen, foam backing to reduce exterior noise and condensation, 12 inch long through-wall sleeve, durable ABS and PP resin body, and stainless steel installation screws. It is designed for through-wall installation, and requires a 3" diameter opening.
